Our ‘What’s on in Selwyn’ winter guide is out now. There’s something for everyone this season including the Selwyn Pet Expo and an evening Matariki celebration at Te Ara Ātea.

The fun kicks off in June with a series of Matariki events, including a Raraka Kete Wānaka/Kete Weaving Workshop, and screenings of the Whetū Mārama – Bright Star film. Wild Capture will also be sharing tips and tricks for landing a great catch through a recreational fishing session.

Elsewhere in the guide is a winter wellness series including tea brewing and tasting, chair yoga, and a presentation on finding the motivation to get moving and love fitness.

Those wanting to try their hand at crafting will be able to learn how to make resin earrings, create nuno felted scarves, work leather, or create a ceramic cup and saucer.

As always, the What’s on in Selwyn Guide features great group fitness options, with a new youth box-fit programme in Rolleston and mature and motivated fitness classes at the Sheffield Community Hall introduced this season.

You’ll never know its winter at the indoor Selwyn Aquatic Centre pool party. And speaking of water, have you ever wondered what lies beyond our everyday encounters with water? Challenge your perspective at the upcoming Undercurrents exhibition coming to Te Ara Ātea on 12 June.

Pick up your copy of the guide at your local Selwyn library, community or service centre, or find it online at selwyn.govt.nz/events
