Suggestions, preferences and new ideas for the future of Waikirikiri Selwyn were put before district councillors from 10-15 May, as more than 100 people came to speak about their submissions on the draft Long-Term Plan.

The Council received 1,522 submissions on the draft plan from 2 April to 2 May, with 131 of those submitters opting to speak at the public hearings.

A record number of submissions meant Council had to add additional days and times to the hearings schedule to ensure everyone who wanted to, could speak at the hearings.

Councillors will this week begin deliberating on all feedback received and make decisions about what will go in the final Long-Term Plan.

The deliberations will be livestreamed on the Council YouTube channel www.youtube.com/SelwynDistrictCouncil

Long-Term Plan deliberations:

  • Wednesday 22 May, 9am – 4pm
  • Thursday 23 May, 9am – 4pm
  • Friday 24 May, 9am – 12pm

The final Long-Term Plan is expected to be adopted on 3 July 2024.
